Do you have an order for supervised visitation?  That can be bewildering.  We have done this work for a long time and so we understand how people feel.  Fortunately, we also know that with good will on everyone’s part, the service can be incorporated so that each person soon feels at ease.  Children who understand what the new person is doing there, relax and focus on just being with their mom or dad.  After all, children are accustomed to adults being around in various roles: teachers, babysitters, grandparents.  They usually see supervisors in a similar way.  We see our best roles as supporting and encouraging parents and enabling children to have the strongest family ties they can.  We are not there to be officious.  We are just there to observe, intervene if needed, and to say the truth.   Our presence provides security to all parties, when there is good will on everyone’s part.
